SIGFest 2017 Event Recap:

We would like to express our thanks to all those whom braved the potential bad weather and rain and helped us with putting together another successful SIGFest! SIGFest 2017 was filled with cloudy but decent weather until the rains came, beautiful E30 M3s and attendees from near and far. Tony Rausch, John Henriquez and I collaborated on the event this year. For those who couldn't attend, here's a brief recap of the weekend.

Kickoff Dinner at Farmhouse Cafe

Friday evening's SIGFest kickoff dinner at Farmhouse Cafe was set in the open dining area of a casual and inviting restaurant. A large group of us from as far South as North Carolina and as close as Cresskill, NJ dined on comfort food with my choice being marinated grilled chicken salad. Everyone seemed to have a really great time especially since it was a BYOB. It was great to have a chance to catch up with old friends and put names to faces to establish new long term friendships.

Saturday's BMW NA's & BMW CCA's Cars & Croissants and SIGFest's Concourse'd Elegance:

The morning started with BMW NA's 2nd Cars & Coffee open to all members of the local BMW CCA and our SIGFest group. This well attended event got to preview, and sit in the Rolls Royce Phantom Drop Head Convertible, The Steve Soper Group A E30 M3, and the M3 GTR V8 "Stars & Stripes" Race Car to name a few.

It seems each year our E30 M3's look more and more pristine! This year we were blessed to have the rain hold out until our awards and prizes which gave us one of the largest turnouts of E30 M3's (82) since 2003 (120 cars!).

Some of the photos taken the day of the event can be seen in our photo gallery here (photo credits included).

This year's awards were masterminded by Tony Rausch with a front view of the E30 M3 etched into acrylic lit by red LEDs; the awards categories were:

BMW NA's Choice
Best of Show
SIGMeister's Choice
Best Tribute
Best Stock
Dedication Award
Road Warrior
Best Modified

See the photo's of the 2017 winners here.

While we were giving away awards, Tony Rausch presented James Liu with a "Thank You" gift for all of the hard work he puts into SIGFest each year: (A set of 4 Warsteiner Pilsner glasses with E30 M3 DTM car graphics and commemorative SIGFest 2017 branding). Dave Alberts of S14.net also surprised all three of the organizers with beautiful, personalized etched silver platters. Thank you Dave! These are just gorgeous!

We then raffled-off some door prizes, donated by our generous sponsors. Thank you: Bimmers.com, BMW NA, BMW CCA, BMW Foundation, Turner Motorsport, BMW of Tenafly, BMW of Morristown, BMW of Springfield, BMW of Bridgewater, BMW of Bloomfield, Circle BMW, Bimmerworld, Rogue Engineering, Enthusiast Auto, Bavarian Autosport, MiniBimmers, Vintage Sports & Racing, Lance Richert, David Haueter, Guten Parts and Service, Mr. M Car, FCP Euro and Detailer's Domain.

NOTE: IF YOU WON SOMETHING- PLEASE EMAIL THE VENDOR THAT DONATED THE ITEM THAT YOU WON AND THANK THEM. IF YOU DO THIS, IT WILL MAKE IT EASIER FOR US TO GET DONATIONS NEXT YEAR. IF YOU DO NOT REMEMBER WHO DONATED A PARTICULAR ITEM, DROP ME AN EMAIL, AND I WILL REMIND YOU WHO DONATED IT. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE TO OUR EFFORTS NEXT YEAR.

We also sold some special raffle tickets to win a few bigger prizes like a BMW bicycle, a BMW kids bike, BMW watch, a 50" TV, $1000 credit towards a motor rebuild by VSR and a Detailer's Domain detailing kit, the proceeds to benefit the BMW Foundation's Street Survival driver training program. We raised $1,000 which will be donated on behalf of the SIG and S14.net members.

Thanks go out to BMW North America for allowing us the use of their property and beautiful facility. Oleg Satanovsky of BMW NA facilitated the availability of the E30 and E36 race cars, as well as the BMW Virtual Motorcycle Experience. Thanks also to Tony Rausch and John Henriquez for all of the technical assistance with SIGFest again this year. Thanks also to the numerous SIG members who helped out at the event this year, making things run smoothly.

As event organizers, Tony, John and I see our role in all of this as setting the stage for you, the stars of the event. Without all of the enthusiasm and active participation, the event would fall flat, so thanks for coming out and spending the day (and in many cases- the entire weekend) with us, and making SIGFest 2017 a success.

There were a few requests during the event to see if one could purchase an example of the trophy; if interested, please PM me. I will be placing an order for additional trophies soon. Here's what the trophy looks like:
